A SLOGAN FOR HANOI
Tourism is an important source of income and brings a host of other indirect benefits: promoting mutual understanding and cultural exchanges, creating favorable conditions for trades, and improving a country's international image. That is why countries around the world try hard to improve their touristic potentials by launching many advertising campaigns with interesting logos and captivating slogans.
Our beloved city is a wonderful city with many unique attractions that are not in common with the rest of Vietnam. We need a separate campaign to advertise our city to the world to capitalize on this uniqueness.
Group General Discussion
- Among the logos and slogans on the first page, which one do you like the most? Why?
- What do you think are the most important characteristics of an effective logo and slogan?
- By looking at the first page, can you tell what is the most special/important attraction of the country each logo represents?
Teamwork
Each group is a marketing team, which is trying to come up with an effective advertising campaign for Hanoi. Try to create a slogan that you think represent Hanoi's most special attractions.
Hints:
- Do not limit yourself to common touristic attractions like beautiful landscapes or historic sites. Try to explore other Hanoi's unique charms in its culture, history, gastronomy, local residents' way of life, economic activities, etc.
- Try not to follow the well-beaten path of portraying Hanoi as peaceful, cultured city. How about a youthful, dynamic Hanoi? How about a Hanoi of many cultural influences?
- In short, try to think "out of the box". Be different, be creative!!!
Presentations
- Each team will have a short presentation (5–10 minutes), in which they introduce their slogan and tell the audience the reasons why that slogan should be chosen.
- The audience will vote for the most effective slogan when all teams have finished their presentations.
